We are very excited to announce our Fall 2026 Musical Theatre Workshop Season!
The Workshop includes skills-based, weekly classes in conjunction with scheduled scene rehearsals that will prepare students to perform a musical at the end of the semester.
The Musicals will be cast based on the needs of the show. Every part is important and an opportunity to learn and grow. Typically as you grow in the program, so does the difficulty of the roles you will be considered for.
*** You do not need to participate in the show to do the class, you will still learn all the skills you would learn if this were a regular class. ***
Magic Makers: A Disney Revue

Audition Information:
Prepare a self-tape video featuring

a 30-60 second audition cut from a song from any musical EXCEPT the one you are auditioning for (preferably it will fit the genre of the show).
You may sing a cappella, but backing tracks are preferred. We would like you to fully prepare the song cut with strong acting choices as if it were a monologue, just sung! Tell us a story with your audition piece.

2 sides from the script (your characters of choice). You can read the lines of that character on your own or with an off-camera partner.
The side you read does not necessarily determine what characters you are considered for and you may be asked to read other sides as well at callbacks. The Director will cast the show based on the needs of specific roles and who will be the most successful in that role.
*Note that the sides are from The Little Mermaid Jr., but we will be performing the full Broadway version.

Workshop Details
Attendance
1. All absences must be cleared with the director BEFORE the first day of rehearsal.
2. If an actor has 3 unexcused absences, they will be asked to leave the show.
3. You cannot have conflicts during tech week or the week before (Dec 7th-19th).
You will not need to be at every rehearsal, only the ones you are scheduled for. Acting Class will be every Thursday for 30 min. Everyone is required to attend Acting Class.
Fundraising
Each cast member will be strongly encouraged to have a goal to raise $100 by the end of the semester to put toward the theatre program.
Costumes
Each actor is responsible for their own costume and make-up under the guidance of our BFTA Costumer. Our costumer will give you idea boards to guide you in this process. Costumes must be approved by the costumer to ensure they align with the creative vision of the director. Do not purchase any costume pieces without first getting it approved by the costumer. Costumes do not need to be expensive. They are best when they are collected and creative! We have a small collection you can look through as well and resources from W&L's costume collection.
Workshop Fee
To ensure the long-term health of Blue Forest Theatre Academy and its ability to provide a creative home for the Rockbridge community we have made the decision to adjust our workshop fee. The new structure will follow a sliding payment scale—combining fee amounts with volunteer hours.
The workshop fee options can be found in the details of each show. Fees/volunteer hours are per child. We will continue to offer a $20 fee discount for siblings.
