Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Blue Forest Theatre is a non-profit academy driven by an ambitious vision to bring vibrant community theater productions to Rockbridge County, involving hundreds of children ages 5-18 in shows every year. The academy philosophy is to provide a creative theater experience that teaches stagecraft through the real-life lessons of teamwork, optimism, work ethic, creative risking, and collaboration, in a nurturing and supportive environment. The skills needed to be successful onstage nurture the skills needed to be successful in life. 

Blue Forest Theatre is directed by Kim Hirt, who has performed, directed, choreographed, and musically directed shows in professional and community theaters across the country. In just the last few years, Blue Forest Theatre has produced Newsies, Matilda, Fiddler on the Roof, The Addams Family, Crazy for You, and The Importance of Being Earnest. This fall three productions are being mounted: The Wizard of Oz, Hadestown, and A Lexington Christmas. 

The cost for producing each show is about $15,000. To make it possible to continue to develop and present quality community theater productions, enriching the lives of so many children and the artistic culture of our community, we are seeking sustaining sponsorships and donations.
